The pursuit of well-being for children and families

In recent years, the increase in family problems has made it necessary to reconsider the functions of the family in Japan. As nursing studies become increasingly specialized and advanced, a new field, Family Health Care Nursing, has come into being, which has led to more investigations into the paradigm of nursing for the family system unit. My career has progressed from the earliest stages of Family Health Care Nursing as involves the education, research and practice thereof.

Family Health Care Nursing, as I see it, is the practical science of preventative and remedial support to the family in order to help the family system unit independently and autonomously maintain and improve its family functions. I have taken up, as my life's work, the "science, art, and social contribution" of the profession that aims at achieving well-being for children and families.

I regard my casual encounters with various families as something to be treasured. I have made my life's calling a quest to embrace the challenge of fulfilling the establishment and development of Family Health Care Nursing.
